THERE are a number of ways for players to join the PDC circuit if they wish to compete in professional tournaments, as detailed below.
The annual PDC Qualifying School allows ANY darts player aged 16 or above the chance to compete to win a PDC Tour Card in January each year.
Each day of Qualifying School sees four players win a two-year PDC Tour Card, with ranking points allocated to players based on their finishing positions to allocated further Tour Cards at the end of the four days as well as to create the Q School Order of Merit.
The 2017 PDC Qualifying School has now taken place - details of the 2018 Qualifying School will be confirmed later this year.
PDC UNICORN DEVELOPMENT TOUR
The PDC Unicorn Development Tour is open to ANY player aged 16-23, with the series of £10,000 tournaments each year leading up to the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship.
In 2017, 20 tournaments will be held across five double-header weekends, with two events per day for players to compete in.
This will be followed by the PDC Unicorn World Youth Championship, which features qualifiers from the Development Tour Order of Merit as well as international qualifiers.
PDC UNICORN CHALLENGE TOUR
The PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour will feature five double-header weekends in 2017, where PDPA Associate Members compete for £10,000 in prize money in two events per day.
Challenge Tour events are open to any player who competes at Qualifying School who does not win a Tour Card, as well as PDPA Challenge Tour Only Members, who did not play in Q School but register to compete on the Challenge Tour.
